I want to go back 😭

Other

Okay, I’m gonna keep this shorter because I have a REALLY long post in the drafts.

In March I bought a Z50 II body with an FTZ adapter, used all my old lenses from my previous Nikon DSLR, and dropped plenty of money on accessories and such. Because I LOVED EVERYTHING about the camera.

Then in May, my car gets broken into. Camera gone. Bag full of accessories gone. All gone.

My dad feels bad, and offers to finance me a camera through Best Buy with a $1000 budget.

By my coworker’s recommendation, I was able to find a used Sony ZVE 10 Mark II with the kit lens for $975. Asked my dad and we ordered it.

I received it two days ago. Call it judging a book by its cover, but I don’t know if I’m going to like it.

Only electronic shutter is the one thing that’s irking me the most, considering I do photos primarily and videos as a fun project. The fake shutter sound feels like a slap in the face 😭
I feel like the autofocus is underwhelming compared to how it’s advertised? For photos it focuses quick but not as precise as the Z50 II. On video, though, much faster. Albeit the kit lens, I was using strictly F-mounts on the Z50 II and it was still incredibly good autofocus.
And you can blame the California summer weather but the camera overheated quick, which wasn’t a problem even on the hottest days of spring with the Z50 II.

I do like the huge FZ100 battery, the compact and light body design, and the quantity and quality of the Sony lens world. I’ll have almost 2 months to exchange the camera, so should I keep giving it a shot? Because I’m heavily considering going back to my roots.
