Dear Diary,

I thought the World Cup discussions would calm down after Monday and Tuesday.

I was wrong.

Very wrong.

By Wednesday, it felt like the entire world had become one giant football stadium.

The school.

The neighborhood.

The television.

Even my family.

Everybody was talking about the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

And somehow...

My belly joined the conversation again.

⚽ Wednesday – The Classroom Predictions

During homeroom, Miss Clarice asked a simple question:

"Which team do you think will do well in the World Cup?"

That was a mistake.

Immediately twenty students started talking at once.

Some supported Brazil.

Others supported Argentina.

Some liked Japan.

Others liked Germany, France, England, Spain, and many more.

The classroom sounded like a sports talk show.

📊 Winfrey's Statistics

Winfrey came prepared.

Of course she did.

She brought pages of notes.

Actual notes.

About football.

Penny stared at them.

"You studied for football?"

Winfrey adjusted her glasses.

"I researched."

"That's even worse."

Kira nearly fell off her chair laughing.

😳 The First Goal

While everyone was debating teams, I was quietly eating a sandwich.

Then one student shouted:

"GOOOOAL!"

And at exactly the same moment—

GROOOOOOWL.

My stomach growled loudly.

The entire table froze.

Then Penny jumped up dramatically.

"Amy scores for Team Belly!"

The whole group burst into laughter.

⚽ Thursday – Football Everywhere

Thursday became even crazier.

Students wore football jerseys.

Teachers discussed matches.

Some students brought miniature footballs.

The school playground looked like a training camp.

🏃 The Football Challenge

During recess, Penny had a terrible idea.

"Amy, take a penalty kick."

"No."

"Do it."

"No."

"Do it."

Unfortunately everyone agreed with Penny.

So I stepped up.

Took aim.

Kicked.

The ball rolled perfectly.

Straight into the goal.

Everybody cheered.

I raised my hands proudly.

Then—

My belly bounced slightly.

Throwing me off balance.

I sat directly onto the grass.

The celebration immediately became laughter.

🍟 Food Court Commentary

At lunch, students continued discussing football.

One student pretended to be a commentator.

Another pretended to be a coach.

Meanwhile Penny pointed at my tray.

"What team are you supporting?"

"The food team."

The table laughed.

Then—

GRRRRMMM.

A stomach rumble.

Perfect timing.

Winfrey nodded.

"An enthusiastic supporter."

⚽ Friday – The Family World Cup Debate

After school, things somehow became even more intense.

Because my family started discussing the World Cup too.

Mom was making dinner when Shelley started talking about football.

Big mistake.

Within five minutes everyone had opinions.

👩 Jennifer

Jennifer approached it logically.

"The strongest team usually has the best balance."

Very Jennifer.

💃 Vicky

Vicky shrugged.

"I just want exciting matches."

Then she looked at me.

"And fewer belly sound effects."

Impossible.

🌷 Melissa

Melissa liked the idea of countries coming together.

She thought that was the most beautiful part.

🐰 Heather

Heather quietly supported whichever team had the nicest jerseys.

Honestly?

That's very Heather.

📚 Gillian

Gillian immediately began discussing tournament history.

Statistics.

Records.

Past champions.

Nobody escaped.

🥋 Linda

Linda wanted maximum action.

"Penalty shootouts!"

"Red cards!"

"Dramatic comebacks!"

Mom sighed.

🍰 Nina

Nina was mostly interested in the snacks.

"Will we have desserts during the matches?"

A valid question.

🏃‍♀️ Shelley

Shelley wanted to play football immediately.

In the living room.

Jennifer said no.

😂 The Living Room Incident

While everybody was talking—

Shelley kicked a soft cushion football toward Linda.

Linda kicked it back.

The cushion bounced.

I tried to catch it.

Instead—

It bounced off my belly.

BOING.

The cushion flew across the room.

Directly onto the sofa.

Silence.

Then everybody exploded laughing.

Even Mom had tears in her eyes.

💛 Mom's Smile

Later that evening, Mom looked around at all nine of us.

The noisy discussions.

The laughter.

The football arguments.

The flying cushion.

And she smiled.

The same warm smile she always has.

The smile that somehow makes everything feel okay.

Even when the house is chaotic.

Even when Linda is arguing with Gillian.

Even when Shelley is treating the living room like a stadium.

And even when my belly becomes sports equipment.

🌙 Final Thoughts

This week proved one thing.

The World Cup doesn't just bring football.

It brings excitement.

Dreams.

Arguments.

Laughter.

And people together.

At school.

At home.

Everywhere.

And somehow...

My belly continues to participate in every major international event.

Good night, Diary.

Maybe next week my stomach will finally retire from professional sports.

Although...

I wouldn't bet on it.
