I imagine this to be a hermitage / chapel / mini-monastary by Christian missionaries in the New World. As soon as Blackbeard blockaded the Carribean, they decided to relocate since contact with other clergymen, let alone the Holy See, was no longer possible. Their fate remains unknown, but in the meantime, a certain pirate crew found the abandoned building and re-furnished both interior and exterior to their needs.
