Genuine question on chapter 166

Am I just overthinking it or did the chapter feel off? Like it felt like it was showing us a pure bad side of chun myung and his group on purpose.

There's MC chasing the snake for it's core and at the same time shouting for it to "live quietly in it's next life and don't mess with humans", Iseol also makes a similar statement at the end to not go harming people.
This feels very ironic since it's them who invaded it's house and attacked it when they couldn't get what they want. Even MC is shown to spare it cuz it has children instead of it being cuz he was wrong.

Similarly they're shown harvesting every last flower and only when the beast palace master tells them about sustainable harvesting do they plant half back.

Was this an oversight or intentional?
