I went down a rabbit hole researching the "boring" home upgrades that actually make a difference and now I can't stop thinking about my trash can
No one like's upgrading the things you use every day, but they're just like your car or TV. It's the same with the things you walk past each day and think I have no need to upgrade because they still do work.
Such as bath mats, shower heads, trash bins, hanger/clothes hangers and smoke detectors that have a low battery and you have brain fogged and postponed the changing for more than 6 months.
So I set out to discover what some of the best upgrade products are and went way beyond what I initially intended to learn.
Things that I found out:
Diatomite bath mats absorb water within seconds and dry within minutes. When I started to look into cleaning my cloth bath mat every week (as you do) I found they collect as much bacteria (if not more) as your toilet seat.
Shower filters do exist, and they are not a scam. People (including myself) typically associate hard water with problems about mainly poor looking hair and skin but rarely relate it back to the hardness of the water out of our showerhead.
The Govee Water Leak Detector can be placed under the sink, under the washer, and under the water heater. If there is even the slightest amount of water leak occurs, you would know right away, and wouldn't have to open up the cabinet and find all of your dishes ruined because of a sudden flood. The diamonds font have this one number isn't the most important.
I have velvet hangers and they save me approximately 40% of my closet space with the added benefit that clothes won't fall off of them. I seriously have no idea what to do with the plastic hangers.
The Toto Washlet C2 (bidet) I am going to let stand without comment.
Drop what you'd add in the comments - especially curious what boring upgrade made the biggest difference for people.
