Childish Gambino Redbone

I’m genuinely curious to know if Gambino had any influence into bringing the word to the mainstream with his song redbone. As now the word is used everywhere and has created or taken away policies solely because of the idea of something being “woke”.

I don’t recall the word being used before the track as far as I know, tho I’m sure it was within the black community before the song. I think it’s interesting how a word has created such political power in not just politics but in opinions, media, journalism etc. The word has really had such massive weight and power that literal ideas and beliefs were created because of it, it’s just so interesting and I can’t recall a word having so much influence on culture as much as it has. So was the word woke brought onto the mainstream because of the track. I would like to add an honorable mention to this being Jordan peels Get Out.

Ps redbone is an all timer
