Dienogest & mental health

Medications and pain management

Has anyone else experienced had a similar experience on Dienogest?

(24F) I’ve been on dienogest (2mg) for almost 3 months now. I’ve noticed a significant reduction in my pain but I feel like my mental health has significantly declined.

The first month, I would describe it as just not really feeling any sort of emotion. I wasn’t necessarily happy but I wasn’t sad just a whole lot of nothing. On the second month, I started experiencing panic attacks as well as spiralling thoughts. I had maybe had a handful of panic attacks throughout my entire life (mostly after a stressful event) but now I seem to be experiencing them on a weekly basis for seemingly no reason. I am now almost through month three, I just feel incredibly sad all the time. Nothing seems to make me happy, I feel like I can barely get out of bed in the morning and that there’s just no light at the end of the tunnel for whatever this is. Though the spiraling and intrusive thoughts have been the hardest part to deal with.

The thought of having to choose between living in this horrible state of depression or go back to being in debilitating pain feels like an impossible choice.

I’m going to see my doctor next week but I just wanna know will this feeling get better? I have read that this can be a side effect of Dienogest but what other alternatives are there. I’m sure I will feel better eventually but the last three months have been horrible.

If anyone has any tips or advice please leave them below & please be kind🙏
