A couple months ago I shared [NuvioSync](https://nuviosync.com), a free web tool that imports your entire Stremio library directly into your Nuvio library — no file downloads, no backup/restore, no Trakt required. You can find the [original post here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Nuvio/comments/1so7dbc/i_built_nuviosync_a_free_tool_that_migrates_your/).

With the influx of users migrating from Stremio to Nuvio due to the recent paywall rollouts, I thought it would be useful to push a significant update to NuvioSync. This is the biggest one yet, and it addresses the most common friction points people ran into.

# What's New

**1. Sign in with Stremio — the auth key step is gone.** The number one complaint with the original version was retrieving your Stremio Auth Key through the browser console, which was clunky and basically required a desktop. Now you just sign in with the same email and password you use for Stremio, exactly like logging into the app. Your credentials go straight to Stremio's official API and are never stored — NuvioSync still runs with zero databases. This also means the old "best used on desktop" caveat is mostly gone; the whole flow works fine on mobile now.

*If you'd rather not enter your password, the Auth Key method is still available as an alternative — it's just no longer the default.*

**2. New: Sync your Stremio library to Simkl.** This one's for the trackers. Once your Stremio library is verified, you now get two options: Sync to Nuvio, Sync to [Simkl](https://simkl.com), or both — your choice, in either order. The Simkl path uses Simkl's official authorization (you approve NuvioSync on their site and the sync starts automatically), and your movies, TV shows, and anime all land in the correct sections of your Simkl profile under "Plan to Watch."

>⚠️ **One honest disclaimer:** This feature is brand new, so use it with a bit of caution. That said, it was built carefully — it reads your existing Simkl watchlist first and only adds items you don't already track, so it shouldn't touch, duplicate, or change the status of anything already on your Simkl list. If you run into anything weird, drop a comment and I'll get on it.

**3. Your library imports in the right order now.** Previously, items landed in Nuvio in an arbitrary order. Now every item should carry over its original "date added" from Stremio, so your Nuvio library should show your Stremio additions from newest to oldest, just like you left them. The same applies to the Simkl sync.

# What Hasn't Changed

Everything from the original post still holds: it's completely free, no Trakt account required, channels and other content types are filtered out automatically, duplicates are skipped, and you can safely run the sync as many times as you like. Nothing is stored, ever.

# How to Support This Project

I built and maintain this in my free time because I wanted it to exist. If NuvioSync saved you from manually rebuilding a few hundred titles, you can support my work on [Ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/nuviosync) — it genuinely helps keep me improving the tool as Nuvio evolves.

Try it at [NuvioSync.com](https://nuviosync.com) — happy streaming!
