Can the return people override the 30 day return policy?

I bought an ego lawn mower, it randomly stopped working and I’m at 60 days. The app let me initiate a return but the people at the desk said they can return my battery but not the mower since it’s past 30 days. Which is a little lame since the app let me initiate the return and I hauled it up here because of that. Is it worth trying different stores while I have it in the car?
