Any way to prevent Marchosias from stealing food?

Finally got woolhaven and I heard he steals all food down to either 5 or 10 days worth. I have 300 meat, 400 berries, and 200 pumpkins, not even including all the other stuff. Is there a way I can avoid losing it all?
