First cast including some of the custom masks that someone resin printed for me to make silicone molds of and recast.

It’s fun to look at this cast (my 22nd attempt at resin casting) vs my first attempt if you scroll back on my profile and see how much better the color proportions have gotten (a lot of masks in the first batch had the like green drowned out by the black).

The mask of incomprehension and the jutlin are some of my favorites and they came out just how I envisioned them in this color combo so I was really happy about that.

Been learning a lot about trying to make silicone molds if parts printed off resin printers:

The custom masks lost a tiny bit of detail because the master parts were printed with a UV resin that’s not platinum silicone compatible, it took a lot of sanding and clear coat application to stop the UV resin from completely inhibiting the silicone while making the molds. The guy who does my printing has switched to a new resin that’s supposed to be better for printing masters for mold making so hopefully that will solve some of those issues. I also found a brand called Siraya Tech that makes a “Defiant” silicone which had a lot of good reviews claiming it could get past the cure inhibitions from molding resin printed parts.

This batch is also slightly glow in the dark but I didn’t have my UV light to charge the bioluminescent pigment and the opaque color covers it up slightly.
