No way .. 2nd crazy event In three days with Homeless

I honestly can’t believe I’m making another post like this.

After almost two years living in Five Points with basically no issues, I’ve now had two incidents in three days.

Last night I was walking down Welton with a friend while she was walking her dogs. We were on one side of the street, and this guy was on the other. Out of nowhere, he makes a beeline straight toward us.

We kept asking him what was up, if he needed something, anything. Nothing. He just stared at us.

My friend’s dogs are older and move pretty slowly, so I stepped between her and the guy. Looking at him, I got that feeling that something wasn’t right. Sure enough, he took a swing at me.

Luckily I blocked it, squared up, and started yelling at him. He immediately turned around and ran off.

The part that still creeps me out is that he never said a single word. Not before, not during, not after. Just walked across the street, stared at us, tried to hit me, and ran.

My friend asked if we should call the cops and I remember laughing and saying, “Why? They didn’t show up yesterday.” We ended up calling anyway. As we were walking back, we spotted him again and were able to tell dispatch exactly where he was. To their credit, officers showed up pretty quickly, took statements, and talked to a witness who saw the whole thing.

It’s just crazy to me. This wasn’t an argument. We didn’t exchange words. We weren’t bothering anyone. We were literally just walking down the street when a random guy decided to come after us.

I don’t know if I’ve just had incredibly bad luck this week, but going from zero incidents in two years to two incidents in three days is wild.
