Ken
Okay so with this whole discourse of dolls and kens...
Disclaimer: I acknowledge that the word Ken does piggyback off dolls but ima use it as a place holder for a name cuz transmascs don't have a quick simple name to refer to our community.
Part of the reason I feel like having a term would be good is cuz trans women can refer to themselves in a way that doesn't immediately out them. Like u can just be like "Oh I mean shes pretty like a doll" if someone asks what u mean. Makes it easier to tell other trans people ur trans while being stealth. I wish trans men had the same.
Here is my question:
Why are black men not deserving of their own term?
Genuinely asking. They are often forgotten and erased just like black trans women. What makes them different? Also the term dolls has already been bastardized and refers to white trans women, too. It has already lost part of its original meaning.
The argument I hear against Ken's is mostly "Black trans women claimed it and it has history" ... so if we claim a word and create history around it does that make it ok or is it ONLY valid if its history dating back to Stonewall?
"Its a movement" ok... trans men can't have a movement? Why? Like I've tried to suggest other names. Like Toms. We're already mistaken for tomboys and boy cats r tomcats. But when I have suggested this to other queer people I got shut down and told it still wasn't OK.
So what would make it ok? What can we do to avoid offending the dolls? Like I don't wanna fight with y'all but when I try to talk about it everyone just gets mad and I feel like we're not being heard out.
