The very first Draugrs are killing me with one hit on replay

I’m replaying GOW for the first time in years. I’m literally ten minutes in, hunting the deer with Atreus, and the first draugrs come out with purple health bars. If they get a hit in, I’m dead. I’m playing on balanced experience difficulty, nothing crazy. I don’t understand why the very first draugrs would be destroying me like this. I’ve already beat the game, years ago, and I definitely remember aspects of it being really difficult, but I don’t remember getting one-hit killed by purple health bar draugrs right out the gate. Am I misremembering?
