It's fascinating when I see reoccurring pieces of equipment or outfits across different media, especially when it's a case of people making reference or doing homage of past projects or featuring "virtual actors". But then you run into situations where things look extremely familiar, not because it was intended but because it's cheaper to reuse outfits and other equipment from one project to another. So here's a selection of such examples.

* **Note**: I'm flagging this trope as "Group", since they entail largely repeating uniforms and armor worn by multiple individuals, rather than reusing a specific outfit

**Grey Space Uniforms (*****Forbidden Planet/Queen of Outer Space/ The Time Machine/Etc.*****)**: Starting this off is a reoccurring sight from the classic works of Universal pictures. These unique grey "space uniforms", with the V-neck design and shoulder pads, have that distinct vibes of retro-futuristic "this is what the future will look like" energy that the 50s and 60s really embraced. Goes well with ray-guys or conventional ballistic firearms. I could go on with a variety of other outfits that get reused in these movies, but this one is my choice focus.

The first appearance would be the sci-fi classic *Forbidden Planet*, worn by the United Planets soldiers, which include a young Leslie Neilson! After that would be in the not-as-classic or as good *Queen of Outer Space*, warn by our heroic astronauts who land on Venus. And then again in *The Time Machine*. And of course, many uses of it across the *Twilight Zone*.

**Bug-Head Troopers (*****The Humanoid*****/*****Yor: Hunter from the Future*****)**: It's not uncommon for low-budget movies to rehash materials from different projects, but Italian Star Wars knock-offs do it to a whole other level. What we got here are what can be described as the most goofy looking Stormtrooper knock-offs I've ever seen. Oddly enough, their design seems to try and invoke Darth Vader, with the jet-black outfit and the way the helmet tapers in the back, but the head is excessively big, the eyes oversized, and the mouth made big and round, causing it to look like the head of a bug. So we can call them "Bug-Head Troopers".

The oldest movie I see this attire in is 1979's *The Humanoid*, a unique but still blatant Star Wars knock-off, being worn by the bad guy soldiers as an armored suit, while carrying laser-rifles. Note, the movie has its own Darth Vader clone, but that one looks less like a wizard who needs an armored suit to keep himself alive and more some normal dude who wants to look cool but instead looks like a BDSM samurai. After that, the get-up would in be the 1983 movie *Yor: The Hunter from the Future*, an adaption of the classic Argentinian comic *Yor: The Hunter*, but then devolved into being a Star Wars clone a third of the way through. But that's besides the point. In this movie, they're android soldiers with blasters for hands; the armor also looks weirdly cheaper looking, but they may have not been well taken care of between 1979 and 1983. There likely was additional use of these suits in other Italian-produced movies, but I don't want to figure out how to even go down that Italian rabbit hole.

**Turtleneck Gimps (*****Yor: The Hunter from the Future/The Humanoid*****)**: Must like with the Bug-Head Troopers of *Yor* and *The Humanoid*, another reoccurring outfit from Italian Star-Wars clones are these... gimps? Really hard to describe them, as they have masks that seem to be super-detailed, having the shape of ears, noses, even eyebrows. The rest of the attire consists of a blackish-brown leather tunic-robes that go all the way down to their feet with the most intense collars, with matching sleeves, gloves I've seen. In later appearances, they seemed to have added "studs" to the tunic and sleeves but that's about it. Whatever it is, it's goofy looking and probably miserable to wear.

Also like the Bug-Head Troopers, these Turtleneck Gimps appear in both *The Humanoid*, serving as body-guards to the evil lady character, and in *Yor: The Hunter from the Future* (with the added studs and also less cared for looking) as an improved android model that requires the... seed of Yor to- you know what, I'm not finishing this. The fact that both movies repeat two really stupid outfits is more than enough for me.

**Gold Men (*****War of the Robots*****)**: You may remember these goobers from a previous post of mine, "Laughably Useless Soldiers". And they don't get much better. These guys wear all-silver outfits, which is already rather corny but then pack He-Man style haircuts that invoke the exact opposite of fear; at least the Bug-Head Troopers looks like they're wearing armor (even if it's just leather and rubber) and the Turtleneck Gimps are a little spooky-looking. Oh, and Gold Men also pack ~~carboard swords painted with reflective paint~~ energy swords that they're not that good with always lose in melee combat. Interestingly, while the other examples here have a degree of creativity and quality to them (some better than others), the fact these extremely cheap-looking get-ups get repurposed component-by-component is surreal to me.

Both their appearances are not only *Star Wars* rip-offs but were also directed by the same director, Alfonso Brescia. The first is *War of the Robots*, serving as the robotic servants of the villain aliens (and where the name "Gold Men" come from). They'd later reappear in *Star Odyssey*, serving as the main bad-guy's robot foot soldiers. In both cases, they completely suck at fighting and die easily and in large numbers.
