Random Comfort Reminder from my Husband
Me (30F) and my husband (28M) have been together now for almost 9 years. We have been married for 5, and have a 4 year old and 2 1/2 year old.
He isn't and has never been into things like giving flowers or things deemed "romantic" like chocolates or stuffed bears. He would rather give me presents that remind him of me or make things easier for me instead. Very few examples: He buys me my favorite pens every so often in case I run out of them. Or pack the car in the morning with our bags so all I have to do is prepare myself and the girls for the day.
I never think twice about what I say. I spoke about how one of my greatest memories growing up were eating Fritos from the local gas station (I grew up poor and would be a weekly snack from my dad). Specifically the Fritos Scoops. It's very nostalgic to eat those because I remember being so happy in my childhood when I would get those. Then the day went on and the weeks went on.
I had a really hard day at work a few days ago and when I came home, there were Fritos Scoops on the table. My oldest daughter said that my husband got them for me. And that's when I was reminded how much my husband was actually paying attention to what made me happy. So I cried. Lol. I really love him. He knows how to cheer me up and I appreciate him so much. My self esteem is really low and I sometimes think the worst of myself. I let him know that myself and I can't believe I am lucky to have someone who acknowledges, let alone love, me.
