So far, Deltarune has a lot of story parallels to Undertale. One of them is that Asgore is doing something bad (or sketchy at least) for noble reasons, that Toriel disapproves of. In Undertale he's trying to kill 7 humans so he can use their souls to break the barrier. We don't know what he's doing in Deltarune yet, but we've heard Toriel reference his "you-know-what" in church, we heard him talking to himself about something in the Holiday house while admiring a shadow crystal, and we saw the corkboard in the basement through his window. And the 7 flowers on display in Asgore's apartment are an obvious reference to the 7 souls.

So I think this will be the chapter where we learn what sketchy stuff Asgore is doing in Deltarune, and it will be through those 7 flowers. Similar to how each soul in UT is a different human he killed, each flower will represent a different bad thing he's done in DR, possibly having to do with their color's soul trait (orange for bravery, yellow for justice, green for kindness, etc). The golden flower in the middle (Flowey, maybe?) will be something to do with Asriel and/or Kris.

From Asgore's interaction with Sans, we know he thinks his flowers are "good listeners", meaning he tells them about stuff he's going through. So when the dark fountain opens up, and all the previously inanimate flowers gain a personality, it would make sense for them to remember what he's told them.
