Question about kit modifications

Hey y’all!! My mom has been playing the drums since she was 5 (she’s turning 39 this year!!) and we are hoping to buy her another kit. We both just escaped from a DV situation and right before we left her ex kicked her knee out from under her. (he’d attacked her, she had both of their weight on the knee and was about to flip him.)

Anyways her knee is completely destroyed but she’s found that having her legs crossed supports her knee more so I’m wondering if there’s a way to modify a double bassed kit so that it could with played with one knee crossed over the other?
