Having IT issues at work, please help.

help request

I recently returned to work from an extended illness. While I was away my manager made me give him my sign on credential. Initially I objected and asked that he go through our IT department, but he insisted that was not an option. Wanting to help I gave him all my sign-0ns.

When I was better and returned to work I noticed some files and emails had been altered and deleted. The first day back I saw many of my files had been opened a few days earlier. But, when I went to re-open them they were no longer available. I started looking into the history and trying to open the files, after trying a few I was booted out of my system for the rest of the day. The next day after they reset my profile I tried to look at past files again, but the history for that time was gone. I contacted IT and we checked the Microsoft Cloud, and everything in that recycle bin had been deleted too. I notified our HR department and they are conducting an investigation. HR asked that to be more specific with which files and emails are altered to help with the process of recovery. I only want to give them generic information, withholding some of the information is the only way to guarantee I can ensure they actually complete the retrieval.

Question, Is there a way to restore everything deleted within the specific time period I was away? Can they at least pull logs from my station as to which files were opened during the time period?

If you have any advice as how to navigate this situation, I would much appreciate it.

Thank you
