2005 Kia Sorento - Worth it??

Hey all! I'm in the market for a new used car and trying to stick to a budget of $5k or less. I found a listing for a 2005 Kia Sorento for $3k and was thinking about offering $2500 or somewhere in the ballpark between those numbers. It's got 153k miles on it and located in AZ so I'm not super worried about rust damage. Probably gonna scan it with a code reader as well before handing over any cash.

It's located about an hour from my house tho so I'm debating if it's worth checking out. Reviews for this make and model seem decent online but a lot of folks mention poor gas consumption which I'd prefer to avoid with the recent prices. Thanks in advance!
