Incredibly Upset Over My Current Internship | Need Advice
I'm a rising senior currently interning at a investment management firm (think state st, MFS). When I was interviewing last fall, I specifically applied for Equity Research, all of my interviews were with ER associates w / finance technicals, and all of my coffee chats were with them as well.
Months after signing the offer, I finally got put in contact with my manager, which unfortunately was in a more operational role. I had then realize the position I was in. It turns out, this year all internships under investments were put in one umbrella which would place us into a random part of the investments side of the firm (they did not tell us this).
I am now stuck doing an operations role instead of the front office research I technically interviewed for. I'm trying my best not to sound entitled to anything, but I am just very frustrated with the position I am in.
For the last 2 weeks I have been coffee chatting portfolio managers and getting some research done for them in my free time which is great experience. The problem is that I know the return offer will be in that operations role, which I would accept but rerecruit heavily. I just feel very upset over this and would like to have any advice if anyone has any. Thanks!
