School districts not hiring elementary teachers?

Have you noticed that many school districts in Southern California don’t hire a lot of multiple subject (K-6) teachers? I don’t really see any on edjoin and whenever I do apply I’m barely called for interviews. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same or knew why it’s been this way?
