I built a free Football Manager Squad Planner — no more Excel sheets or notebooks
Hey guys,
Tired of scribbling formations on paper or maintaining messy Excel sheets to plan your squad? I built a free browser-based squad planner that runs entirely as a single HTML file — no install, no account, no ads.
What it does:
- 📋 Visual pitch with 12+ formations (4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 3-5-2, 4-3-2-1 and more) — drag players onto positions directly
- 👥 Full squad list with position, age, nationality flag, hierarchy status and notes per player
- 📊 FM24 Mac & FM26 import — use FM's built-in "Print Screen" → Save as webpage → drag the HTML into the planner. All players imported instantly with position, age and nation
- 💾 Save multiple plans — up to 20 squad plans in LocalStorage, formations saveable as custom tabs
- 🌍 3 languages — English, German, Spanish
- 📸 PNG export — 1920×1080 broadcast-style lineup graphic with sidebar showing bench and squad
- 📝 Player notes — hover to preview scouting notes per player
- ↔️ Resizable columns, drag-to-reorder, collapsible sub-slots for substitutes
How to use it:
- Download the HTML file
- Open it in any browser — that's it
- Import your squad via FM's Print Screen export (FM24 Mac works great)
- Drag players onto positions, plan your tactics, export as PNG
Known limitations:
- The screenshot AI import (📷 button) requires an Anthropic API key to work outside of Claude AI— skip it and use the FM Export import instead, which works without any key
- fminside player photos load automatically if the player ID is known, but many generated FM players won't have one
Planned:
- Direct FMINSIDE API integration to easily add players with photos in one click — will be discussed in talks, fingers crossed 🤞
It's completely free, open source, and works offline after the first load. No data leaves your browser.
Happy to hear feedback, space to improve or features that could be added.
