Guide to fix for layer shift issue when pausing printer
After I updated my firmware to 1.1.0.17, I noticed while trying to print a nut knob that after the pause/continue it had layer shift in the direction of the bed axis. After some research I found that this issue is caused by the y_park for pause configuration which in this firmware is 222mm and causes the bed to hit then end of the rail and the motor lose a step or the belt to slip. Solution:
- Root your printer
- Connect using ssh in the terminal:
ssh root@{ipAddressOfYourPrinter}
- You can get the password in the printer
- edit the /usr/data/printer_data/config/gcode_macro.cfg pause configuration, you will have to use vi editor that is available in the printer:
vi /usr/data/printer_data/config/gcode_macro.cfg
- scroll to the line where is {% set y_park = 222 %} under the PAUSE section
[gcode_macro PAUSE]
description: Pause the actual running print
rename_existing: PAUSE_BASE
# change this if you need more or less extrusion
variable_extrude: 1.0
gcode:
##### read E from pause macro #####
{% set E = printer["gcode_macro PAUSE"].extrude|float %}
##### set park positon for x and y #####
# default is your max posion from your printer.cfg
# {% set x_park = printer.toolhead.axis_maximum.x|float - 5.0 %}
# {% set y_park = printer.toolhead.axis_maximum.y|float - 5.0 %}
{% set x_park = 0 %}
{% set y_park = 222 %}
##### calculate save lift position #####
- Enter edit mode, clicking the i key
- erase 222 and write 220:
{% set y_park = 220 %}
- Leave edit mode clicking the Esc key
- now you need to save(write or w) and quit(q), write exacly this with the : as well
:wq
- now you need to exit the ssh connection with the printer, run:
exit
This here is the before and after:
Hope it helps
