The 2 examples I'm using are for neil degrasse Tyson's claim which will be brief and another abt someones claim abt powerscaling which will be longer

Let's start with neil

He's a great example for this because he is ultimately a smart guy

But when he said that there's no point in releasing rats in the wild and making humane traps are dumb or smth it makes me question that a little

Firstly rats are a creature they've been surviving in the wilds for millions of years without human houses

So already at base the argument is that they won't survive in the wild is false

Secondly why are we trying to defame humane traps here

Humane traps should be more popular and mandatory over basically bioweapons

We used the latter bc its the only option

But now humane traps are safer for you and your family rat poison is famously lethal for humans and they are more moral bc they save alot of pain for the animal

Now for the powerscaling video

Its partially muted idk why but i think there is a reaction video of it you might be able to find

I'll be brief bc i won't be able to say everything i want

Firstly she frames this as a fair and honest criticism video

This is not remotely that at all

She never reads arguments for any of the "dumb" scaling and assumes they are bad

My reasons for this statement are the following

She doesn't understand the difference between ap and dc

Lemme explain the difference

Both stats are the main component of attacking power

Ap is attack potency : meaning the amount of force a character can expell on a single point

Dc is distructive capacity/capability: meaning how much stuff you can destroy in a given area usually calculated by the size of an area you've destroyed

An example of the difference these 2 make and why its important in powerscaling is in one piece akainu vs whitebeard

I'm talking about their devil fruits not their own personal strength

Akainus devil fruit is more ap focused it is afterall called by oda himself the most offensive devil fruit power or however he worded it

But whitebeards devil fruit is more dc focused described as the devil fruit that could destroy the world

One creates super hot magma that can easily destroy a person aka ap

One creates earthquakes capable of destroying a huge area aka dc

Whitebeards df isn't capable of delivering that force in one person unless it's directed at someone basically point blank

But akainus df has no issue delivering scolding hot liquid rock into your face or whitebeards face

Zaydas non understanding and refusal to understand is evident when she treats both as the same even tho the vsbw clearly states the claim in question was either abt dc or ap

And the site clearly explains the difference

But oh no how could this guy be continental ap when he never destroyed a continent

Also same thing with speed

Luffy is the example here that she herself uses but unironically he's the best example to debunk her

Speed isn't only how fast you go

The word speed in scaling encompasses these things

Travel speed how fast one can go from point A to point B

Reaction speed how fast one can react to something happening

Combat speed how fast one can dish out an attack and or block it

Luffy has not so fast travel speed nowherenear lightspeed

But he has massively faster than light reaction and combat speed

This is evident against kizaru because he can dodge kizarus lasers no issues but when kizaru lightspeeded to the sky he could see it happen but he couldn't follow him

Bc kizaru is lightspeed travel but Luffy isn't

And sure these distinctions irl don't make that much sense but in fiction they are often super defining for the characters capabilities so the scaler has to account for it

A scaler has to find the balance between using reality and using the fictional material you can't only use either one

Btw all the evidence you need for my examples you can find on vsbw for the characters

At the end of the day what frustrates me isn't the misunderstanding it's that she made a whole ass video complaining about scaler literacy and our intelligence without once reading explanations for things she didn't understand

You can ask questions if you want abt scaling I'll answer best i could

I HATE when someone makes a claim about an opinion without even looking into the opinion itself
