Need Advice For Cleaning

I’ve had 2 of my wisdom teeth removed and the pain from my bottom tooth only got worse and worse as time went on. By day 6 I couldn’t stand it and booked a follow up appointment.

The dentist confirmed I had a dry socket. She put a nasty tasting gel into the hole to promote a new blood clot forming and the pain almost completely went away. I haven’t syringed the hole from that tooth for 72 hours to help the new blood clot form.

3 days later the gel is still in that hole. Some of it has been removed from eating, brushing teeth etc. Now that I’ve finally syringed the hole the gel is still staying put. Is this normal? Should I let it it naturally wear away over time?

Need advice please!
