The technology level of The City is weirdly inconsistent

This has happened before, but I think this is the strangest one in the most recent intervallo.

There is a lot of discussion around film, people being generally unaware how photography works and also not really understanding initially how animation works either.

But television exists and is even mentioned in this chapter. I guess it just works in a completely different manner to our television? Pure moment to moment projection without any frames?

The biggest one is when they enter the final area and are perplexed by the projector. Sure, it looks a bit odd. But Dante has a projector in THEIR OWN OFFICE THAT WE SEE AT THE BEGGINING OF THIS VERY INTERVALLO. They even have multiple rolls of film stacked on their desk. I guess its just there for show and they never asked how it worked.

Sure, maybe N-Corp has super special film or something. But it still seems to be developed and work much like regular film, and yet everyone seems to have no idea how it could possibly work.

Just the consequences of wanting to jump around and tell different kinds of stories, but it just makes the setting weird.
