How can I get rid of slugs in my home and save my sanity?

I bought a cottage (my first ever home!) in summer last year, its grade 2 listed, and dates back to 1825! Lovely home, but after the first few months, I noticed slug jizz (sorry) along the living room floors.

Now I did some googling, and saw that they can get through small cracks, my only issue is: my house is full of tiny gaps!! the walls, skirting board - i filled with wire wool! but I have lovely old floorboards with gaps and I don’t know what to do!!

They consumed my life between July - January and then disappeared for a while…there were moments in December where I set alarms at 2am to go downstairs and catch them at it!! There was one night where they were sat in a circle mocking me!!

I have two dogs so am reluctant to use pellets, my house is clean and I have all food in airtight containers!!

I have just come home late, and found 3 of the fattest slugs, one in my kitchen and 2 in the living room!! PLEASE any advice!!!

(I can’t track there slime to anywhere specific, which is very annoying!!)
