We lost our 5 year old daughter in January of this year. After 14 hard months of battling leukemia and histiocytic sarcoma, she passed away in the comfort of her home, with Me(her dad 34yr) and her mom (32yr) holding both her hands. I was supposed to be her bone marrow transplant donor, but the immunotherapy failed to be manufactured correctly and that was the last option for treatment. I was so hopeful the whole time and just couldn't imagine life without her here. The whole time staying in the hospital, my girlfriend was pregnant with our son and we were so excited for her to be a big sister and for her to have a baby brother. Her 5th birthday was on Dec 30, she passed a month later on January 29th, and our son was born 3 weeks after her passing, on the day of her celebration of life ceremony, which was very special. It's been the hardest thing I have ever been through, and that is such an understatement. There are no words. Me and her did everything together, she was very much a daddy's girl and me a girl dad. Every day is empty without her here, and it's hard going from a girl dad to a boy dad and a parent of a newborn in less than a month. I love our son very much, he is amazing and he's 3 months now, just now starting to smile and show personality. But I miss my girl everyday, our family and our life will never be the same without her here. I feel cheated, like this isn't the life we planned for, like God/Creator stole her from me. I am very grateful for still being a parent and having our son, but I feel like I'm on autopilot. I feel like im just waiting one day after another til this life is over so I can see her again. I want to be the same dad for her baby brother as I was for her, but that's not possible since I wasn't dealing with this tremendous loss with her.
