bad experience

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing

i got my vertical labret, my first lip piercing, done last saturday and i had to have it removed today. i never had any issues with any of my other piercings, and they were all done by the same piercer.

i went to my piercer yesterday, day 5, to have her look at it because i was concerned about embedding. i brought up my concerns and she just told me to keep icing it, use chapstick, take ibuprofen, clean with saline, and do warm compresses to help with how crusty it was.

she didn't even get close enough to actually look at it btw.

i did everything she told me to do with the swelling but it just wasn't going down. the only thing i didn't do was use chapstick. on top of that, i don't think she put a long enough bar in my lip.

i woke up this morning and the top ball was almost completely in my lip, so i went to the urgent care and had it removed. i'm on antibiotics now in case of infection. as soon as the doctor removed the jewelry, my lip felt much better. my lip looks absolutely disgusting now. it's very crusty and now there's a crater in my lip where the ball embedded.

luckily i caught it early enough so the doctor didn't have to cut my lip open. they were able to push it out and unscrew the ball....not a fun experience AT ALL.

i am extremely upset about it. i was very happy with it the first 2 days, but now i dont think i will ever get another lip piercing. worst part is, i already ordered the jewelry i wanted to downsize to. πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ not like it needed downsized, the bar was probably already too short. πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

piercing was 6 days old, had a gold curved barbell in it, i was cleaning 2-3 x / day with H2Ocean saline spray, icing once an hour for 15 mins, and using warm saline to soak it and as a warm compress.

was it something that i did wrong, or was the bar just too short?
