Multi screen - audio does not switch over when I change active window.

i have Samsung TV bought this year. when I switch active window the audio does not come on and fill screen goes blank with an animated white circle going round. it just keeps doing that for over 10-15 mins or more. I have to press select and then go back to 4 windows to get the screen back.
it started doing this last week.
