Dopamine nation

I'm trying to get sober again & all I knew about dopamine nation was it was supposed to be a book about the neuroscience of addiction & I had enough Google play points to get the audiobook for free & I got 1 chapter in & it was batshit insane. At risk of sounding like I'm making a cope take, it really seems like conservative propaganda. Would love to hear Michael & Peter eviscerate this book. The concept of someone's rock bottom being reading a smutty romance that mentions a butt plug is killing me. If anyone's read it & it's actually good if you keep reading & the first chapter is just awful I'm totally open to giving it another shot, but like, that was so weird & awful.
