Scene+ has a promotion in place where members can get 20% back in points when redeeming for select gift cards. This offer is available until June 18 and is available for Scene+ grocery store partner, Apple and Golf Town gift cards.

Get 20% back on Scene+ Grocery Gift Cards – is it worth it?

It is definitely worth it to redeem Scene+ points for their grocery store partner gift cards!

Why? The redemption rates for Scene+ grocery gift cards is the same as using points at any Scene+ partner or when being redeeming for travel. That rate is 100 points to $1. With 20% back, that means you are effectively redeeming 80 points per $1! This means you are getting more value for your points, for example, if you have the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card that is a 7.5% return on the 6x points earning…. but maybe that’s not the best card for comparison as you won’t be earning the 6x points on whatever grocery purchase you use the gift cards on.

20% back on Apple or Golf Town Gift Cards – is it worth it?

If you are all about maximizing the value from your loyalty programs, redeeming points for Apple or Golf Town gift cards, even with a 20% rebate, is not worth it.

With Apple and Golf Town gift cards starting at 1,400 points for $10, and getting 20% back you are still effectively redeeming 1,120 points for $10. This is not as good as the standard Scene+ partner or travel redemption rate of 1,000 points for $10 or the grocery gift card deal listed right above.

If you are not about maximizing value and are happy to get any type of reward for your points, then by all means the 20% back on Apple or Golf Town gift cards is worth it. As we always say at Rewards Canada, the best redemption you can make is the one that you are happy with.
