Pumping once I return to work
Looking for some advice or similar experiences. My baby is currently 6 months old and breastfed, averaging about 5–6 daytime feeds plus usually 1 overnight feed. They’ll be starting daycare around 9 months, and I’ll be away from them from roughly 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Give or take 30 mins. I’ll only have the opportunity to pump twice during that time, so I’m trying to figure out the logistics if baby ends up needing 3 bottles while I’m away.
I can nurse before drop-off, after pick-up, and again in the evening. I plan to continue breastfeeding when we’re together. I’m hoping solids will also be contributing more by then, but I know breast milk will still be their primary nutrition source.
Has anyone been able to pump enough during 2 pumping sessions to provide milk for 3 bottles? Did your baby end up taking fewer feeds during daycare hours as they got older? My baby nurses directly, so I don’t really know how many ounces they currently take per feeding. I think I naturally have a larger and adaptable supply, but I’d love to hear how others managed this. Thanks!
