Help me choose a TV(TCL vs lg). Size vs picture quality dilemma

Discussion

Hey everyone,

I'm finally replacing my old TV and could use some advice from people who have experience with these models.

I don't want to overspend just for the sake of it, but at the same time, if spending a bit more gets me a noticeably better experience, I'm willing to do it. I tend to keep my TVs for a long time, so whatever I buy will probably stay with me for the next 5–10 years.

A few details about my setup:

  • Couch is about 2.7m (9 ft) from the TV
  • The room gets a decent amount of daylight, but it's not extremely bright
  • Usage is mostly movies, Netflix/streaming, sports, and some gaming

The TVs I'm considering are:

  • TCL C8K (QM8K) 65" – €1,100
  • TCL C8L (QM8L) 65" – €1,650
  • TCL C8L (QM8L) 75" – €2,350
  • LG C5 65" – €1,350
  • LG C5 77" – €1,900
  • LG G5 65" – €1,750
  • LG G5 77" – €2,350

My main dilemma is size versus value for money. I can afford these options, but since I plan to keep this TV for the next 5–10 years, I'm trying to figure out whether the more expensive models are actually worth the premium(deference is more then double) .

Specifically:

  • Would you choose a 77" LG C5 over a 65" LG G5 at a 2.7m viewing distance?
  • Is the jump from the TCL models to the LG C5/G5 really noticeable in everyday use?

I'd love to hear what you would choose in my situation and why. Thanks!
