[Star Trek]Can the Borg assimilate V'ger?

In the ST Motion Picture, no weapons or technology can penetrate the gigantic cloud of V'ger. Klingon warships were quickly dissolved. Nor the Federation had anything that can successfully slow down it. But the Borg even in the 23th century were more advanced than any races of the Alpha Quadrant. Let's say V'ger enters Borg space on it's way to Earth in the Delta Quadrant. Could the Borg use their massive resources of cubes, spheres and other ships to assimilate anything V'ger throws at them? Even if their ships gets dissolved by energy balls of V'ger, could the Borg analyze the energy before being destroyed and sent the information to the Collective?
