Question On POI’s

Discussion

What are your thoughts on “fake” POI’s that are real objects, but have been intentionally moved from their actual location to fit into a different cell?

I’ve noticed this in a community where I run on weekends. The POI’s themselves are legitimate (murals, signs, etc.), but some have clearly been relocated on the map from where they physically exist. At the same time, this area would otherwise have had very few Wayspots—at one point there was only one gym within about a mile radius.

I can understand why players, especially in rural or underserved communities, might feel frustrated when there are very few places to play. But I also understand that Wayfarer is supposed to accurately represent real-world locations.

Where do you draw the line? Do you think moving a real POI a short distance to improve gameplay is harmless, or does it undermine the purpose of Wayfarer regardless of the reason?

Curious to hear opinions from both reviewers and players
