Play pen for 6-12 month old

Hello all!

Our 4.5 month old is starting to show signs of being a little more mobile, and I’m starting to think ahead to playpens and/or babyproofing.

My question is: we are likely going to be out of the country (visiting family) for 3-4 months this fall so when baby is 8-11 months old.

Is there any point of doing a big playpen setup in this case, or will we be missing the main window for using that type of setup?
