My direct supervisor made vile comments about my past relationship and he kinda got away with it
Hello! This all started when my (21m) supervisor asked me about my last relationship (26m). Me being a regular white dude he was surprised I tend to date black women and asked what that was like, for additional context he himself is an immigrant and in his home country there's not many black people. Anyway it took a turn south when he asked if we had any kids before separating and I explained that after a miscarriage and still birth we had separated, his initial reaction was to say "oh thats good, your bloodline would've been ruined and your legacy destroyed" and then continued to berate other mixed race coworkers for being "contaminated" in his eyes. I had never expected him to say something so disgusting and it made me really sad as I thought me and this guy had built a pretty good relationship despite him being a good bit younger and in a higher position I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel some kind of way but he really proved to me that he knew what he was doing. I tried talking to him about how this made me feel and he didn't really seem to care so I went to the owner of our place of work, who himself is a man in an interracial marriage with mixed children. For one of his supervisors to be saying really prejudiced stuff about his employees and by proxy himself I thought more would happen but he was just suspended a week and I was told not to let anyone know what he said. And thats it? Being told not to share details has thus made it look like we had some kind of beef and i simply came out on top and it kinda feels like people look at me like a shit starter now. It's made a very awkward work environment and this guy just looks at me with open hostility like I did something wrong. I'm pretty sure the answer is to look for another job which is what im doing and why im tagging this as venting but if anyone has a unique perspective on this id appreciate input. Otherwise thank you for letting me scream into the void.
