Joining A Police Service as a Constable in Canada as a Muslim

Assalamualaikum everyone,

I am curious what everyone thinks about becoming a police officer in Canada, specifically Toronto.

My motive and intention is to join to help people. I understand I can't help everyone but I also read a hadith that explains 'to save a life is like saving all of humanity'.

What are some implications or restrictions that I should be careful of if I chose to go down this path. I know the law might have some differences with Islamic principles but the general idea is serving and protecting.

I know there's a few bad apples in the service, but I see this as what I can do to help rather than what the reputation of a service is.

Does serving on a police force in the west make me a disbeliever, sinner or the likes of people that Allah may not be pleased with?

If there's any Muslim serving officers, I'd love to get your input and how it is serving as an officer.
