TF2 achievements

Hi, I started playing Team Fortress 2 a few days ago. When a player gets an achievement, a message appears in the chat saying that the player has earned this achievement, accompanied by a sound. But now I'm not getting those messages anymore, only the Steam message. I don't know if it's a bug with my account or the game.
