I recently purchased a Seiko 5 (7009-469LR) from EBay. I was looking for an automatic watch for everyday wear. Ive had Seiko’s in the past and feel you get a lot of watch for a great price. After a simple google search I had narrowed it down to Etsy and EBay as the ideal spot for a cheaper “vintage” Seiko. I know these watches are refurbished and in some cases complete gutted so I was not swindled into thinking that they would be out of the box brand new. I ended up going with the EBay option as the sellers seemed a bit more transparent. (I will provide the link to the exact seller below). The watch came from Canada and arrived within two weeks, the packaging was simple but good enough that it was not damaged. The watch itself showed very minimal signs of everyday wear and tear but nothing I would write a complaint over. There were a few visibly dirty spots but nothing a q-tip couldn’t clean up. As for the movement; I’m not confident in my skills to pry the back off so I have no idea what is actually inside but I do know that it is automatic as described and the “tick motion” is pretty consistent with my other Seiko’s. However, the battery life is not fantastic and truly you may have to reset every time you wake up and put it on. (I do not have an electric self winding device). The glow on the face is very good considered I didn’t expect it to be functional anymore. The worst part of the watch by far was the band, it was a piece of junk. I have a simple watch kit so that I can resize bands when they arrive to large, I was able to remove a few links but when I went to replace the pins I spent 2 hours trying to a-line the links and was unsuccessful. I ended up getting frustrated and ordered a 19mm leather band from StrapsCo and although it could fit the 18mm I like the larger width of the 19mm. (I’m very pleased with the quality and shipping time as it arrived within 5 days). I have been wearing this watch daily for about two weeks and have had no issues (other than having to set the time and date every so often if I take it off for more than 10ish hours). Overall I payed $145 dollars for the watch and $27 for the band.

(This is the first time I’ve used Reddit so I apologize for the rambling, I tried to think of something that I would have found helpful while researching this purchase)
