Inflammation is becoming a serious pharma theme again
The Ventyx deal is probably the cleanest comp people should be looking at, not because CRDL is identical, but because it shows where big pharma is paying attention.
Lilly agreed to buy Ventyx for about $1.2B, specifically calling out oral therapies for inflammatory-mediated diseases. Lilly also said inflammation is increasingly recognized as a driver of chronic disease across cardiometabolic, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, and autoimmune areas.
Explaining the rationale behind the deal, Lilly Chief Scientific and Product Officer Daniel Skovronsky, M.D., Ph.D., alluded to “increasing evidence that inflammation is a key driver of many chronic diseases.”
That matters for CRDL because the company is also built around developing therapeutics for inflammation-driven heart diseases. MAVERIC is now late-stage, ARCHER already produced Phase 2 data, and CRD-38 is the next pipeline piece aimed at heart failure.
Not saying “Lilly bought Ventyx so CRDL gets bought.” But it does show that inflammation biology is back on the strategic radar, and CRDL is sitting in a niche part of that trend with actual clinical progress.
Not financial advice.
