PR assistance

Me(23M) and my Canadian partner(24F) have been doing LDR for almost 7 years. I am based in the USA my whole life while she is in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We want to make the start of making our lives in person permanently in Canada but don't what our best foot in or what we need to double down on doing.

I have been working with my employer for almost 2 years, the first year as a full time contractor, and the second as a hired on worker with the company. My job description describes my duties as a electronic hardware technician, with diagnosing and repairing hardware. I also have a certification in cybersecurity from a reputable school in the US that I have completed back in April, 2026.

My partner has been focusing on school in Winnipeg and hasn't been able to find a job to build income yet. She still has roughly 6 months of classes left to complete.

We are unsure of what our first steps should be, and I have a trip planned in August to go see her for 2 weeks. We want to set up a joint bank account in Winnipeg for savings. I am thinking of staying in the US to build up more relevant cybersecurity experience, but also unsure if whether a canadian employer will hire me regardless if I do or don't.

If anyone has any tips or help on what should be my first steps be, I'd generally appreciate it. I have not taken any IELTS exams at the moment, but will when we've drawn a good pathway for each other to live together.
