Why did Magnesium Glycinate give me insomnia
Hello, I'm a 20-year-old college student with ADHD, and I've been trying to fix my sleep schedule. For a long time, I was going to bed very late and waking up in the afternoon, so I decided to reset my body clock by staying awake throughout the day and then sleeping at around 9 PM.
(i was a very deep sleeper back then, used to sleep for 9-12hrs and i enjoyed every single second i miss it…)
Before doing that, I looked up ways to improve sleep quality. I came across many recommendations, including advice from people online and articles discussing the potential benefits of magnesium glycinate for sleep, so I decided to try it.
Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite of what I expected. Instead of helping me sleep, I felt awake the entire time I was trying to fall asleep. When I eventually did “sleep”, the quality was poor. It felt as though I had only closed my eyes for a moment before waking up again, i was conscious the whole time and I didn't feel rested at all.
It's now been 5 days, i still haven’t slept, not even an hour, and I'm still experiencing the same issue.
I am so exhausted, I’m tired of this.
Could magnesium glycinate be causing this reaction?, because I’ve heard some individuals absorb the Glycine as an excitatory rather than a calming agent, would it be better to schedule a consultation with my doctor?
Thank you for any advice.
