I found my father dead… really struggling
So I have always been super close with my parents especially my mom but she had congestive heart failure and she was being hospitalized more often back in 2020 then they told us she was going on hospice and since it was during the pandemic for whatever reason they told me to hold this magnet on her chest to turn off her defibrillator so she could pass only the magnet never came.. so she kept trying to pass in front of me and dad but her defib kept kicking her back over and over and over until hospice told me to call 911 and she went back to the hospital where they deactivated it and she passed. THAT was super traumatic and 6 years later I still am struggling with that.
So my dad and I became super close we rarely did anything without each other I took him to dr appts, ran errands for him and even though he had some edema and weeping on his lower legs I spent months treating those for him, running errands, getting him food, meds etc if I wasn’t with him I was on the phone with him all day every day. We became each others rock and it slightly softened the blow of losing my mom who was so sick for so long.
Last Saturday I called dad around 11am he usually answers or calls me back but he didnt and the night before he was up writing bills and gave me 10 bucks to go get him a cheesesteak the next day so I tried to call again - no answer again. So I was thinking well I’ll go check to make sure he didn’t fall or something so I head over to his house.
I walk in and everything seemed weird like unusually still.. I walk over to where he was and he had moved to the chair he likes to nap in. I see him sitting comfortably with his glasses on (that’s usually how he naps) and im like “hey daddy!” No answer so I walk closer and he is sitting there just like he always napped comfortably but was completely still. I started screaming… i touched his hand it was cold his skin looked grayish and his eyes looked weird I ran outside called 911 and 5 officers came immediately. I did notice Dad had a fruit salad he opened but never ate on the counter and a Burger King whopper in the fridge he just bought…
I was shaking, cold even though it was hot out, the medical examiner said he died in his sleep and the funeral home came to take him. I have not been sleeping much, eating much, I always feel cold and just crying all of the time I have no parents anymore and that feeling is absolutely gutting plus my brain keeps replaying how I found him at random times it’s unbearable.
I had to plan the funeral myself and do everything myself… I have a sister but he disowned her years ago and he put me as executor in his Will so I’ve been digging through so much clutter having constant panic attacks.
My daughter who is almost 30 knows she’s in the will for 60k so she’s been incredibly selfish and awful towards me telling me I should just sign the house over to her which dad wanted me to move into and then my sister keeps telling me I need to give her money out of my own account since dad left her nothing. It’s funny because my daughter and my sister rarely called dad or came to see him I was literally the only one he had every day. Neither of them cares and I just don’t even know how to do all of this executor stuff or cope with losing him plus the trauma of finding him like that.
