Time for AC in Bangalore?

For years, fans were sufficient for me in Bangalore. With the hotter summers we have been seeing lately, I am curious about those who added an air cooler in the last year or two.

Did it make a meaningful difference during the hotter months, or did you eventually end up needing an AC?
