Novel set in the forest

Looking for a novel that was about a village in the woods or on the edge of the woods in german speaking land where one of the main characters comes back from a concentration camp where he was paraded around like a dog. Also there may have been three dead girls on the other side of the river. I think the novel might have been called bartoach or bartok. Published between 2008 and 2012.
