America has no responsibility to give money to Africa regardless of whether withholding funds will lead to deaths or not.
America is sending billions to Africa in the hope that, one day, they'll finally start... actually taking care of themselves, I guess?
Now that we've stopped sending them money, I'm seeing people saying that America is responsible for any African that dies. Some are even calling it genocide lmfao.
I look at it like this: let's say I spend ten years donating money to the homeless, helping feed them, clothes them, house them. Then, my family gets sick. I stop donating to the homeless because I need to use my money to take care of my own family.
Nobody in their right mind would blame me. Nobody in their right mind would accuse me of being responsible for the deaths of ny homeless I had previously helped, should any of them freeze or starve. Any normal, sane person would appreciate the fact that I had helped out for so long in the first place.
Because, any sane human would understand that of course I'm going to take care of my own people first.
We have our own problems in the US. We don't need to be sending money overseas to take care of people. Especially when that money isn't even helping, and is actually lining the pockets of warlords and dictators.
Finally, there are other countries that can pick up where we left off if they so choose. It's not our job. It's not our responsibility. I'm not going to feel even a slight bit of sadness that my tax dollars aren't going to buy some African warlord a new Rolex.
