Stop it with the "Is my bookshelf a red flag?" posts.

NSFW

No, reading Lolita, American Psycho, Fight Club, or whatever other "edgy" book you're clutching isn't a red flag.

"Is my dark romance addiction a red flag 😩?"
Bro. No. It's fiction.

You guys are turning a useful term for actual dealbreakers (like, I dunno, reading Mein Kampf) into a cutesy way to fish for validation. Also please stop asking for advice on whether your boyfriend is a red flag because he hasn't read enough women or is into a lot of men who write science fiction. Unless this seeps into your relationship, there are bigger deal breakers.

If you want judgment on your taste, fine, post your shelf and let people clown on your mid takes. But stop acting like enjoying transgressive literature makes you a walking warning label.

The real red flag is this neurotic, therapy-speak brainrot where every preference gets pathologized. Reading Blood Meridian doesn't make you a psychopath. It just means you have functioning curiosity and aren't scared of uncomfortable ideas.

Save "red flag" for the actual psychos and groomers, not for someone whose TBR includes Frank Herbert. This trend is exhausting. Read whatever the hell you want. The only red flag is caring this much about strangers' opinions on your bookshelf.
